Happy New Year Morocco!?

I think, perhaps, the celebration began tonight to begin ringing in the new year for muslims. The rhythmic chanting and singing of the all male ensemble accompanied by drums, guitar and other instruments in the local mosque began around 10 or 10:30 PM. Hmmm. "Now what's going on?" thought Jill and I. (We are just are a little slow on the holidays around here.) And why heat things up so late? Thankfully, around midnight tonight, the music seems to have died down.

Whoops...they are back at the loud chant/singing!

My only conclusion is that it is new year's eve, so to speak because we have either Tuesday or Wednesday off from school. The king has to look at the moon, I guess on Monday, to decide which day it will be. Once he has made his decision, then it will be "New Year's Day" and we have a holiday.
It is 2:22 AM and the singing continues...

This one is from 2:48 AM outside my bedroom window. Turn up your volume:-)
